UPLC peptide chromatography, laboratory note

UPLC means ultra-performance liquid chromatography. It is the same idea as HPLC: a column separates the sample and a detector records peaks. The hardware runs at higher pressure and often uses smaller particle columns, so peaks can be narrower. On a peptide lot report, UPLC is still a chromatographic purity method. The area percent is method-specific. It is not a second name for mass spectrometry.

When a Janoshik file says UPLC and another lot says HPLC, do not average the two percentages. Record the method name that is printed on the PDF you opened. The reading guide is how peptide purity is measured.
