A 2004 Nature Medicine paper used phage display to map CKGGRAKDC to blood vessels supplying white adipose tissue in mice, and later work tied that binding to prohibitin. In 2011, Science Translational Medicine published a nonhuman-primate study of the chimeric peptide CKGGRAKDC-GG-D(KLAKLAK)2 in obese rhesus macaques. That paper reported reductions in white adipose tissue and changes in insulin-resistance markers, and it also reported reversible changes in renal tubule markers.
