GHSR-1a, ghrelin-receptor laboratory term

GHSR-1a is the growth hormone secretagogue receptor type 1a, the functional receptor for ghrelin. It is a G protein-coupled receptor. Papers distinguish it from GHSR-1b, a truncated splice variant that is discussed as lacking the same signaling competence. They also distinguish it from the GHRH receptor. A ligand at GHSR-1a is not, by that assignment, a GHRH analogue.
